When you go for a dental check-up, make sure your dentist knows you are pregnant. If possible try to avoid going in the first and later part of the third trimester. Microscopic cuts can happen during a routine dental exam and infection is a risk to be avoided at this time. The second and early part of the third trimester are great times to schedule a dental visit and make sure all is well. If you are interested in cosmetic dental care, it is best to wait till after delivery.
The first thing you want to do before signing up for childbirth classes is to know what type you are looking for. Depending on your needs and personal preferences, one might be better than the other. Some methods are more informative when it comes to pain medication than others. Others offer the “all natural” approach and stay away from modern medicine. One must know what they are entering and if it will work for them once they get to labor and delivery. Also find out about your instructor. The instructor’s personal belief will most likely come out in the class and so to get the maximum benefit one should choose a like-minded person.

Sleep is important to health of all people, but during pregnancy it is of utmost importance. During a women’s pregnancy, she needs to get plenty of extra rest. A growing fetus puts a lot of strain on a women’s body and she needs to get more sleep to re-fuel and keep going. Women are so tired because of the new hormones cycling through their bodies. Morning sickness is the most common plague of pregnancy. It is common to feel nauseated, vomit, or just plain yucky. The degree of sickness varies greatly woman to woman and with each pregnancy. Some women are only bothered by nausea and/or vomiting at certain times a day, such as in the morning or before bed. Others are constantly ill and don’t get relief till the first trimester is over or medical intervention is sought. Usually the nausea is caused by the increase in hormones and sugar imbalance as the body adjusts to the changes of pregnancy.

The most crucial time in pregnancy is the first trimester. It carries the highest risk of miscarriage and this is when all the developing body systems in the baby are formed. By the end of this trimester your baby will be no more than 4 inches long and only weigh an ounce. Amazingly enough most of the major organs are formed and working. The heart is beating and the baby has fingers and toes.

Losing the weight after you have had your baby can seem like one more mountain you have to climb during your new motherhood battle. Studies indicate that most mothers gain thirty to forty pounds during a pregnancy, and losing weight like that takes time and commitment. These tips, though, should help you to shed those pounds within the first few months after your baby's birth.
