There are three good reasons to protect your self from key logging software. First, it can lead to identity theft. Identity theft accounts for twenty-five percent of all credit card losses in the United States. All a thief needs is your social security number; you birth date, and your contact information. Once he or she has any of this, they can get a fake ID, which will help them apply for credit posing as you. Because so many lending institutions are eager to issue credit these days, information is not properly verified, and the first account leads to more accounts. This ruins your credit. Even if they do not apply for new credit in your name, they can make full use of your current lines of credit just through the information they have captured with their key logging software.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Computer security is a major issue in today's society. Many of the important facets of our lives revolve around computers, and keeping our machines safe is essential. The popularity of the internet and the consistency with which we use it has led to serious outbreaks of computer viruses. Viruses have become so problematic that they are regularly mentioned in both print and online media. It is essential that you protect yourself against viruses, especially those transmitted via the internet. A virus can be transmitted through an e-mail or an innocuous looking floppy disk. Millions of computers are infected each hour, and if yours is next, you could lose all of your data on your network or on the machine itself. Once gone, it will be irretrievable. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

You can start by searching your Registry to manually delete and eliminate all entries related to a recently uninstalled application. Open the Registry Editor and click on the My Computer icon in the left panel. Click Edit and Find. Put in a word that has some relation to the program you want to be sure is gone from your registry. You could put in the name of the program or the program's publisher. Be sure to check the box labeled “Keys, Values, and Data,” then click “Find Next.” Examine the first thing you find. If you do not need it, highlight and press delete. You will need to press your F3 key to continue. You should then repeat the process a few more times.
